This DIY cartonnage Kit comes with all cardboard you need to make your own reusable journal cover with magnet closure, as shown in the pictures. The pieces of paper (chipboard and poster board) are precut in the right sizes you need for this project. The refillable notebook cover will measure 8″ x 6″ closed and will fit on standard 7″ x 4 3/8″ 1-subject notebooks with 100 sheets (Five star), which can be purchased at most office supply stores. Once you use up the notebook, just remove the cover and place it on another one! Great to keep memories, as a recipe book or take notes. With DIY kits there is no worries about cutting paper! Fabric is not included. The journal it’s optional, as you can easily buy it at Walmart.
For making the cover you will need this kit, two coordinating fabrics (1 fat quarter each), glue (Glue-All from Elmer’s), rotary cutter, cutting board, scissors, a small paint roller with tray, paint brush and masking tape, carving knife and kraft knife.
Instructions for making this project are in the members area of the Cartonnage Club – course: Fabric cartonnage week 2021 (the 2021 workshop).
Cartonnage tools (spatula, acrylic spacers and corner tool) will facilitate the process and give a better finishing for your project. Find them in the tools section of the shop.
